Well, howdy there, internet people, it spell again. So today, we're going to talk about Trump,

troops in D.C., and legal developments. Last month in federal court, Judge Cobb ruled on Trump's

controversial deployment of National Guard troops to D.C.

And in part, said, quote,

finding that such a broad reading of the President's Article 2 authority would erase Congress's role in governing the district and its National Guard.

He basically ordered the National Guard to get out, but he stayed his order until December 11th

to give the Trump administration time to appeal. Well, on Thursday, a panel of appellate judges

issued an administrative stay to provide more time to go over the case.

It's worth noting that the one-page order included a disclaimer of sorts that said the administrative stay, quote,

should not be construed in any way as a ruling on the merits of that motion.

Maybe that's just boilerplate language, but I immediately assumed it was because of the

Trump administration's habit of simply declaring victory when the proceedings are still ongoing.

So what happens from here? Well,

mainly we wait. But Judge Cobb had a whole lot of reservations about the deployment,

and for the appeals court to overturn the order, it looks like they'd have to disregard all of them, when really only one seems to be in question. Unlike other places, Trump has deployed troops against Americans.

D.C. is kind of all federal property, and Trump does have the power to use troops to protect
