So today, we're going to talk about Trump, the House, the Senate, and favorites.

So I got a message, and the answer is relatively simple, but when we expound just a little

bit, it gives us a lot of insight into how DC actually works, especially

in comparison to how we sometimes think it works.

Okay, so here's the question.

He's up to something.

He keeps picking people from the House and narrowing his

majority there. Why not take some people from the Senate? I just feel like he has a plan nobody sees.

So the simple answer is Trump has more control over people in the House, and therefore they say the things he wants

to hear on TV, and he believes they'll obey him more. And he's really not wrong when they're in

the House, definitely more so than the Senate. But the question is, why? Sure, there's the habit of jerry meandering districts

creating a situation where you win a Republican primary

by being the furthest person to the right.

In heavily jerry meander districts,

the general election is kind of guaranteed win.

So it encourages candidates to pull out all of the stops during primaries.

They say whatever it takes and try to push the envelope to the right, and it usually works.

That puts them more in line with Trump's rhetoric. In the Senate, races are statewide, so they can't be as radical. They need

the independence. But that's only part of the story. Elections in the House of Representatives
