Well, howdy there, internet people, it's Bell again. So today, we're going to talk about the

Trump administration taking a loss in court after the judge found the administration couldn't

actually provide evidence to support their fraud allegations about a Biden-era clean energy program.

On Tuesday, the judge ruled in favor of eight

nonprofits. They sued both the Trump administration and Citibank. The judge found that the

Environmental Protection Agency unlawfully terminated the program. Judge Tanya Chuckkin,

yeah, I'm sure Trump loved that.

Ordered the $20 billion in congressionally approved funds to be released and distributed to the intended non-profits by 2 p.m. today.

The Trump administration said they'd appeal the order.

Citibank had previously said they would comply with an order if one was issued. Chuckkin asked government

attorneys for evidence of the alleged fraud, waste, and abuse. She was apparently unhappy with

the lack of evidence, and said, quote, here we are, weeks in and you're still unable to

proffer me any evidence with regard to malfeasance. She added, quote,

If EPA had concerns about oversight and the funding, the way to do it is either get a court

order, which you didn't do, or go through the procedures for termination. You haven't done that.

You're putting the cart before the horse.

The government seems to be shifting its argument away from fraud allegations and moving towards

saying it's just a run-of-the-mill contract dispute. The argument shift might prove to be critical

to the outcome of the case because it could end up changing the

court the case is being heard in. The money was approved by Congress as part of the 2022

Inflation Reduction Act and as part of the greenhouse gas reduction fund, which is most often
