Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again.

So today, we're going to talk about Trump admitting he can't guarantee that you won't pay for his tariffs.

Throughout the campaign, Trump promised tariffs.

He said they were beautiful.

He led people to believe foreign countries paid for them. Now, after the election,

there's a change in tone. When asked if he could guarantee his new tariffs wouldn't raise

prices on Americans, he said, quote, I can't guarantee anything. Reminder, a tariff's whole job is to raise prices. That's literally what it is

supposed to do. He went on to say, quote, but I can say that if you looked at my, just pre-COVID,

we had the greatest economy in the history of our country, and I had a lot of tariffs on a lot of different countries,

but in particular China.

He went on to later say, quote,

I think tariffs are the most beautiful word.

I think they're beautiful.

It's going to make us rich.

Okay, well, I guess that depends on who us is.

He said to look at his previous tariffs.

Okay, let's do that.

The U.S. International Trade Commission, which is an independent nonpartisan agency, released a report in March of

2023.

It said, quote, U.S. importers bore nearly the full cost of

these tariffs because import prices increased at the same rate as the tariffs. The USITC estimated

that prices increased by about 1% for each 1% increase in the tariffs.
