Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again. So today, we're going to talk about Trump

for California State University Northridge. Their fundraising efforts are ongoing. Well, we all kind of knew this was coming eventually, right?

The Trump administration reportedly plans on firing about 7,000 people from the Social Security

administration.

That's about 12% of the workforce that handles benefits for around 70 million Americans. This is probably going to be

a periodic reminder. Payroll for employees is not a significant portion of federal spending.

It floats between 5 and 7%. Experts are saying the staffing reductions will extend the amount of time it takes for claims to be processed and extend the amount of time it takes for people to get their benefits.

That sounds like a partisan talking point, but that actually seems to be the least doom-filled prediction.

Martin O'Malley, who used to run the agency, had a much more dire

prediction when it comes to the Trump administration's moves. He said, quote, ultimately,

you're going to see the system collapse and an interruption of benefits. And then added,

I believe you will see that within the next 30 to 90 days.

That's a pretty extreme prediction. And there isn't consensus on that opinion. Other experts

suggest that the more likely outcome is that there is an increase in improper payments,

rather than an interruption.

The obvious question, and it's a question we find ourselves asking a lot lately, is why?

Why is the administration doing this? The plan, as near as we can tell, is to consolidate

the 10 current regions of the Social Security

Administration into four. It also looks like Trump plans on closing somewhere around 45 Social

Security offices across the nation. That's based on reporting that says Doge is canceling

leases of the office space for those offices.
