So today, we're going to talk about Trump's shutdown messaging falling apart.

As the U.S. hurdles toward a government shutdown shutdown,

Trump and Republicans, who hold majorities in the House and the Senate,

while also occupying the Oval Office and holding

a majority on the court, or having a very hard time gathering any consistent or even coherent

messaging. The current course was set when Trump told Republicans, quote, don't even bother

dealing with them. He seemed to be under the

mistaken belief that GOP rhetoric about a mandate was true. Meanwhile, the Democratic Party's

main request to create a package they could support involves extending ACA credits, so people

don't lose health insurance and may be refunding

Medicaid after Trump's cuts. They're simple items for working class Americans. The Republican Senate

Majority Leader Thune said, quote, this is a program that needs reform, but I think everybody is willing to sit down

and talk about how to make that happen in a context where it should be discussed. He then went on to

say that now isn't the time. The problem for Thune's messaging is that now is kind of the only time.

They're running out of time to fix the mistakes they made in Trump's one big beautiful bill.

On the other side of Capitol Hill, Speaker Mike Johnson and the House Republicans

seem to be leaning into messaging that says they don't want to negotiate

because it will undo Republican

priorities in the one big beautiful bill. Um, yes, that's exactly what it will do. The bill

Republicans force through over the objections of experts is opposed by a majority of people. Yes, Democrats would undo a number of the most

harmful parts of the bill. Trump, meanwhile, has become almost obsessed with attempting to say things
