Well, howdy there internet people, let's bea again. So today we are going to talk about immunity

and testimony and what's going on and what the special counsel is up to. If you've missed the news because of, well, all

the other news, the special counsel's office has extended immunity offers to a number of people in relation to the grand

jury investigation of January 6th. A couple of them are fake electors. People

are wondering why he's giving immunity to people who were kind of integral to the whole thing. Okay so this is the

way it works. You have a Fifth Amendment right to remain silent right not really you have the fifth amendment right not

incriminate yourself if you have immunity, you are no longer at risk of incriminating yourself.

You're not a witness against yourself at that point. Your testimony can't be used against you,

therefore you don't have a Fifth Amendment right. So what he appears to be doing is offering this immunity to a couple of fake electors.

Their testimony at that point can be compelled. So they have immunity, they don't have the right to

sit there and say, I plea the fifth, I plea the fifth, I plea the fifth.

So they have to talk.

Their options at that point are take the immunity

that has been given to them, tell the truth,

and walk away or lie and if they lie they could end up facing

other charges you don't have immunity for that.

So that's the angle, that's the route that he's pursuing. It appears that there have been at least three offers like this. Here's the important part to understand here. Not just can they

compel the testimony. If they're giving people immunity, it means that they have found probable

criminal conduct. Once they start handing out immunity, it's pretty clear that there are crimes and that people

will end up being indicted.

So you can look at it from the perspective of, well, he's playing this angle to get more

information and that's true. But by the time they've reached this point, they've already got a pretty good case.
