Well, howdy there, internet people it spell again. So today, we're going to talk about Trump

desperately trying to salvage the Iran deal. Over the weekend, the administration did everything

it could to make it seem like there could be a peace deal at any moment.

But as the day stretched, and Americans, even those inside his own party,

reached the consensus that his deal was weaker than Obama's,

it seems like Trump started struggling to find a way to frame this as a win.

It seems like he landed on a typical Trumpian answer.

Throw in a bunch of unrelated stuff so he has something to point at for his base,

even as he makes a series of massive concessions to Iran.

But before we get to that, we should acknowledge

that the U.S. conducted strikes against Iran. The U.S. is saying it hits some boats that were

trying to place mines in the strait. Iran's supreme leader spoke to his telegram channel

and said that the U.S. would no longer be able to use Gulf states as a safe haven in the region.

We're not really sure what he meant by that, but it's worth noting that previously Iran had said any further strikes would lead to the war expanding beyond the region.

It's unclear whether the relatively limited exchange counted. But Iran has said a peace deal is not imminent.

China seems to be losing its patience with Trump's antics and said, quote,

We urge the parties concerned to fulfill their ceasefire commitments, resolve disputes through peaceful means.
