Trump, deflation, and a video I honestly can't believe I have to make. In the quest to find

some grand strategy behind Trump's economic moves, a number of people have latched onto a theory,

and I've asked a bunch of y'all about it,

and that led to questions.

So, we'll talk about the question and the two groups of people who could benefit if it happens.

And I promise, it's not who you might think.

Look, I know we have people who are economists and people in finance who watch this channel. Depending

on how today is going, you might want to watch this video when you need a laugh. I feel

like y'all are probably stressed enough today and this might be the type of thing that just

sends you right over the edge. Today, we're going to talk about why large amounts of deflation is bad, actually.

Because according to a number of your friends and family, Trump is intentionally trying to cause

deflation to bring prices down. And I get it on some level. It seems like since a lot of

inflation is bad, a lot of deflation is good.

That's not how the economy works. You need to think of the economy like Goldilocks.

Too hot is bad and too cold is bad. So what is deflation? Simply, it's the reduction of the general level of prices.

With a lot of deflation or a deflationary spiral, something that costs a dollar might cost 75 or 50 cents.

That sounds great, right?

Like everything in economics, what happens next?

Companies will protect their profit margins.

If they didn't always engage in this behavior,

we wouldn't have had high inflation to begin with. So they're selling for less because that's all
