Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again. So today, we're going to talk about Trump, Canada, Krugman, and Trade.

Paul Krugman had a lot to say about Trump over the last week or so, and it's worth taking a look at.

If you don't know who he is, he's got a Nobel Memorial Prize in Economic Sciences.

Was an economics professor at MIT, Princeton, London School of Economics. He's got all the

credentialing you could ask for. We're going to talk about his most recent statements first,

and then go back to something he said last week.

Recently, he said, quote, if you look at the actual composition of U.S.-Canada trade,

it suggests, if anything, that Canada is in a stronger position if trade war breaks out.

I knew it would hurt the U.S., but he's suggesting Canada might actually come out on top overall.

Sounds weird, right?

He explained his position by saying that if you exclude oil and gas, quote,

U.S. producers have more to lose in terms of reduced sales in Canada

than Canadian producers have to lose and reduce sales to the United States.

He went on to say, quote, Canada could weaponize its oil by imposing export taxes, and officials are reportedly considering

that option if the trade war escalates.

Trump knows his base is very sensitive to gas prices, and no, you can't drill baby drill

your way out of that.

Not that the Nobel Prize guy needs me to check his math,

but it adds up. The U.S. might actually end up being the net loser of any trade war. It'll be a lot

easier for them to find buyers than it will be for the Americans to deal with even more rising prices.

So, it's an interesting little development.

Then, about a week ago, Krugman said something else.
