Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again. So today, we're going to talk about the Supreme Court upholding the TikTok ban, Biden, Trump, and Congressional Republicans. The Supreme Court unanimously upheld the law banning TikTok unless it sold to a U.S. owner. The court found, quote,

there is no doubt that for more than 170 million Americans, TikTok offers a distinctive

and expansive outlet for expression, means of engagement, and source of community. However, it also concluded that, quote,

But Congress has determined that divestiture is necessary to address its well-supported national

security concerns regarding TikTok's data collection practices and relationship with a foreign

adversary. So, Biden has said he won't implement the law

on his last day in office and will leave it to Trump. Trump has indicated he feels he can work out

some kind of deal. He's also met in private with a major investor in TikTok's parent company, who also happens to be

invested in another social media company called True Social. No potential conflict of interest

there. That being said, Trump has gone back and forth on the TikTok ban. There's no way to

know where he really stands, or if he actually has a stance

beyond what is politically expedient. He seems set to offer a 90-day extension on the ban.

While currently, Trump looks like he wants to save TikTok. That's not the end of the story,

because the law also puts app stores on

notice. The law says they'll have to remove the app. Certainly, Trump wouldn't offer assurances

to private companies that the law doesn't apply to them. Beyond that, congressional Republicans

are not in line with Trump's stance on TikTok.

They want it banned. They pushed for it for years. There isn't resistance from the Democratic

side of the aisle either. On this issue, many Americans are succumbing to the belief that when

they become aware of something

is when the issue started. I've seen a bunch of videos stating definitively that the reason the
