getting food. The effects of the one big beautiful bill, Trump's signature program, are now being

felt by millions across the country. The expansive bill has caused havoc in a lot of ways,

but the part that's coming into focus right now are the cuts made to snap. The numbers came out,

and they were exactly as predicted by experts. From January 2025 to January 26, more than 4.3 million people lost food

assistance in the United States, according to preliminary government data. The Republican Party

told America that cuts to snap were to weed out fraud.

But now that people are going hungry, this weird thing is happening.

The people who they said didn't really need help are showing up at food banks.

Laura Lester is the CEO of Feeding Alabama, which is a coalition of food banks in the state.

She said, quote, we are already hearing from those impacted who no longer have access to food.

Homeless children and seniors are the ones who are suffering.

We have absolutely seen an increase in the number of people who don't have enough to eat

coming to our pantries.
