Well, outy there internet people, let's bow again. So today we are going to talk about

water out west and whether or not the issues are over. We have been covering the water shortage out there on this

channel for a while and with all of the recent rain there have been a lot of questions that have come in. So how are

things going? Major reservoirs. They're trending up. They're going up, which is good.

And this is in addition to the rain that has occurred recently.

There's also a decent snowpack, which is good.

The thing to remember is that the reservoirs

and groundwater remain at historic lows.

And this is not a one year thing.

This is a long-term drought. It's been going on more than 20 years. I want to say

22. This is an uptick, but it's an uptick in precipitation framed against a much wider picture of a long-lasting drought.

There are some estimates that say the drought could last as long as until 2030.

There will be forecast soon talking about how things are going to shape up this year,

but the general tone is that things are going to warm soon which will lead to evaporation and there

aren't while what's happening is good it's not over and it probably won't be over for a while.

There is one quote that kind of sums it up from a hydrologist

with the National Weather Services Colorado Basin River Forecast Center. We're definitely

going in the right direction but we still have a long way to go and that is the the general consensus.

There is a little bit of concern

that some of the water management areas are going to see this and not continue to take the

precautions that they should and not continue to manage as if they're still in a decades long drought.

Hopeful that that doesn't happen.
