So today, we're going to talk about the U.S.-Ukraine talks and GOP concerns.

Okay, so about a week ago, a Trump administration official said, quote,

The Ukrainians have agreed to a peace deal.

There are some minor details to be sorted out, but they have agreed to a peace deal.

We didn't cover this announcement and were asked a few times why.

Short answer.

Because an announcement of a deal from the Trump administration doesn't really mean much.

Long answer?

On Sunday, Ukrainian and U.S. representatives had a five-hour-long meeting that was described as intense and difficult.

It turns out, the minor details that needed to be sorted out after the announcement include

literally a proposed de facto border. Where the de facto border is located is apparently a minor

detail in a war fought over territorial expansion. A deal was not reached at the meeting.

Trump has walked back the excitement from last week by telling reporters he thinks there's a

good chance we can make a deal.

Beyond that, Republicans are starting to question Trump's entire position on this.

Republican Mike Turner, who sits on the House Armed Services Committee,

pulled no punches, saying, quote,

You can't be America first and pro-Russia,

because Russia is a self-declared adversary of the United States.

It's fielding new advanced nuclear weapons

that are specifically targeting the United States. It's constantly attacking the United States
