Well, howdy there internet people, let's bow again.

So today we are going to talk about the Supreme Court of the United States and the US Senate.

And how those two institutions met at an intersection.

And we'll run over the developments

and then talk about what might occur in a call that was made.

Okay, so what occurred?

Democrats in the Senate, they tried to move forward with something called the Supreme Court

ethics, recusal, and transparency act.

Short version, it's a code of conduct for the Supreme Court. It has

recusal rules, rules about disclosing gifts from people, just general stuff like that.

And it would be binding rather than the self-enforced code of ethics that currently exists. The Democratic Party

tried to move forward with this via unanimous consent which is which is a speedy way to do it.

The Republican Party was just like,

nope, we're not doing this.

They referred to it as constitutional overreach, just all kinds of things.

And they put up pretty stiff resistance to it.

Now right now the court is a lot of questions are

arising. There have been things that could be described as scandals, as issues concerning the justices.

A code of conduct might help alleviate that and restore

the public perception of the institution.

And that's probably what the Democratic Party was going for.

That was not how it was received.
