Well, howdy there internet people, let's bow again. So today we are going to talk about

what happened over in the Senate and answer a couple of questions that came in about it. This is something that's probably going to catch a whole lot of

press over the next few weeks because it certainly appears that Schumer is going to make sure that that happens.

So what occurred?

There was a, there was some movement on some legislation there.

It was a procedural vote to advance a piece of legislation called the Right to

Contraceception Act.

What does it do? That's exactly what it sounds like it would do.

It guarantees men and women in the United States, the ability to access contraception.

It provides it and basically turns it into a to access contraception.

It provides it and basically turns it into a federal right.

Now, for a while now, I have taken a lot of heat for using the term reproductive rights

because people say no it's really about choice and life and no it's not.

That was the framing that the Republican Party used to get people

to vote against their own interests. That's what it was. It is about reproductive rights and this vote shows it because something that was basically

just designed to make sure that people could access basic forms of contraception was blocked by the Republican Party.

Now, one of the questions that came in, why did Schumer vote against it?

That's a procedural move. He crossed over at the

last moment so he can bring it back later. You will see this material again.

Now the Republicans are saying that it was a show vote. No, that was a real piece of

legislation. Y'all just blocked. That wasn't a show vote. The other thing that

they're saying is that it's not illegal. It's not unavailable.
