So today, we're going to talk about right-wing groups defending trans people.

So, there's been a weird development that has prompted some questions.

Some have been wanting to draw attention to it, and some have been asking a question that is pretty well represented by this one.

Quote, Miss Bell, um, what's happening? Why are the furthest right-wing loons on the entire internet suddenly defending me with their whole chest in public?

I'm not sure if this has made it into

the normal political discussion yet. But news said that Trump and friends were trying to find a way

to classify being trans as a mental issue that would strip us of our right to own a gun.

Honestly, it's kind of terrifying because once they get

one right from us, the others won't be far behind. I was effing flabbergasted to see the NRA come out to

defend us. Can you please explain the politics at work here? These people mostly just hate us. Don't worry.

You haven't completely lost track of the general dynamics. Most of the membership of the groups

defending you still hate you. So what's in it for them, right? As you said, once they get one right from us, the others won't be far behind.

That's 100% what's motivating them.

Just a different view of what counts as us.

In a normal timeline with a normal Supreme Court, there is no legal way to classify being trans as a mental illness

that can be defended at the Supreme Court. But this isn't a normal timeline. In this weird

incarnation of the United States, there is no way to classify being trans as a mental issue

that bars ownership at this Supreme Court.

That doesn't immediately open the door to every vet with PTSD, every rich banker on anxiety meds,

and every suburban mom who has a bottle of mommy's little helpers losing their rights as well.

At bare minimum, it would open the door to state laws on those grounds, if not opening the door to federal laws. I know, I know. I can hear
