Well, howdy there internet people, it's Bell again.

So today, we're once again going to talk about New York City,

and this time we're going to talk about a move the mayor made.

As the mayor gets more and more entangled there are

increasing calls for his resignation. A lot of people have had their news

intake disrupted by the storm. So as a quick recap, the mayor of New York was indicted on five counts,

wire fraud, bribery, conspiracy, and a pair of counts of receiving campaign contributions from a foreign national.

He has entered a not guilty plea and has struck a defiant tone related to the charges and the

possibility of him resigning. On Thursday, the the a plan to deal with the situation in which he and the deputy mayor are unable to

perform their duties for whatever reason. The new rules transfer. All such

functions, powers, or duties of the Mayor are hereby delegated to the Deputy

Mayor for Health and Human Services.

The move is a little unusual because normally the Deputy mayor of operations is seen as the natural replacement.

The criticism being heaped on the mayor's office is growing by the hour and the calls to resign are mounting.

Most of the calls are being framed around the idea that the city needs consistent and effective governance.

This move by the mayor is probably an attempt to head some of that off by saying

there is a clear plan to maintain governance. Despite pressure to take immediate

action, the governor of New York, Kathy Hockel said, quote,

I expect the Mayor to take the next few days to review the situation and find an appropriate

path forward to ensure the people of New York City

are being well served by their leaders. Her opinion matters a great deal because in New York the
