Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again.

So today, we're going to talk about the midterms, impeachment and common statements.

We've got to talk about the midterms again, because a couple of things kept popping up.

The first is the idea of impeachment after the midterms. There's a popular idea floating

around that after the midterms, the Democratic Party with a simple majority in the House and a big

win in the Senate could impeach and remove Trump. Let's just say the Democratic Party gets the House seats needed for a simple majority.

That's not actually out of the realm of possibility.

To me, it seems likely.

But then we get to the Senate.

We don't vote for all senators each election.

We vote for about a third of them.

This midterm will be 35 seats. Democrats are

defending 13 seats, while Republicans are defending 22 seats. To convict during an impeachment in the

Senate, there needs to be 67 votes in favor. To get those votes on what would presumably be a party line vote,

Democrats have to win every seat they're defending and 20 of the 22 seats currently held by Republicans.

That requires them flipping Texas, Mississippi, Alabama, Missouri, and a host of other red states.

The likelihood of this isn't exactly zero, but if we're rounding, it's basically zero.

So this idea needs to be let go. People have to get in the mindset that it is going to take years to undo this mess.

Now, let's get to the idea that Trump is going to cancel the elections. Midterm elections are run by the states and counties, not the feds.

Do you see Gavin Newsom canceling the elections? People are pointing to the Miami fiasco.

Do you know who the biggest opposition to it is? Florida's Republican Attorney General.

There seems to be an active effort to demoralize people into thinking there won't be midterms.
