Well, howdy there internet people, let's bow again. So today we are going to talk about what

we can expect from the Senate in the closing days here.

And one piece of legislation in particular that looks,

at this point, it looks like it has the votes to get through a filibuster and we're going to talk about that a little bit and go from there.

It is the Respect for Marriage Act.

Now at this point in time is the Respect for Marriage Act.

Now at this point in time,

Mitch McConnell is being incredibly non-committal

about where he stands on this bill.

However, there are senators who have come forward

and they're saying, we are confident

that they have the votes to get this through and get it over the

filibuster. Schumer has said that the votes going to happen. The interesting

thing is there aren't a lot of people publicly going on record at this point

saying that they're going to support it by my count as far as public statements, I don't know where these

votes are coming from. But that's kind of to be expected. This is going to take Republicans crossing over to support a bill that

will in some ways protect same sex in interracial marriage in the United States.

Again, yes, at this point in time, we need a law to do that because of the Supreme Court. It's not uncommon

during the lame duck period for politicians to kind of hold

their votes close to their chest and not let anybody know what they're going to

do because some of them may be on their way out or

they may have already been reelected and not want to suffer any backlash. This is kind of a free period to engage in votes like this.
