Well, howdy there internet people, it's Bell again.

So today, we're going to talk about the Democratic Party platform or the lack of one.

And why that might not be the bad thing some commentators are suggesting.

A number of commentators and outlets have suggested the Democratic Party is falling behind

on messaging because they haven't updated the party platform since the presidential ticket changed.

Let's be honest, it wouldn't be a huge surprise if the Democrats dropped the ball on messaging.

However, there may be another reason they haven't publicized a new platform.

We recently talked about whether Harris would get the traditional post-convention

polling bounce and the idea that one of the things that provides

that bounce is the announcement of the running mate. Harris may not get that

bounce because her running mate is known. There's no new excitement to be generated by

them walking on the stage together. We might want to hold off on judgment on

whether the Democratic Party is making a mistake until after the Convention.

Releasing an updated platform right around the Convention will give the media something to talk about.

and therefore a polling bounce.

This is especially true since we see Harris slowly adjusting positions to national desires

and slowly letting bits of her policy aims out to the public. The Democratic

Party has been relatively quiet about a lot of details of the convention lineup.

They really only released a few big political names from the party's history as speakers and a few celebrity events.
