Well, howdy there internet people, let's bow again. So today we are going to talk about

the dark side of the moon in China. This isn't a musical reference for once. On Sunday, China's space program

landed an unmanned vehicle, apparently successfully, on the dark side of the moon in a place that is unexplored.

And from what I understand, they use this really cool like 3D laser scanner to pick out a safe spot to land, which I found really interesting.

The purpose of the mission is to gather soil and rock samples that's why they're there

And the reason for that is incredibly important

This this mission important. This mission is part of a renewed quote space race between the United

States and China. Worth mentioning those involved in space

exploration do not like the term space race because it brings along the idea of carrying those silly

notions of nationalism and borders and all of the stuff that divides us out into space, which is a bad idea.

That's how you end up with militarized exploration instead of peaceful exploration.

So it's always worth remembering that they don't like that term.

Now China hopes to put a person on the moon by 2030. The United States

has its next scheduled stop on the moon with a person in 2026.

So why is this particular mission worth talking about?

What it's looking for, why it's really there.

It is looking for a very, very specific thing. Water. It's looking for water. If it finds it or finds more evidence of it, provides a map to

where it could be found, anything along those lines, it would help make a lengthy stay on the moon a lot

more probable impossible.

This is one of those things that if this was a US mission, it would probably be all over the news.

But those silly notions of nationalism do sometimes
