Something many of us were expecting that Trump supporters said would never happen.

The United States Supreme Court has officially been asked to

overturn Obergefell v. Hodges. The challenge is being brought by Kim Davis. Yep, that one.

She's the Kentucky County Clerk who wound up getting jailed for almost a week after she refused

to issue marriage licenses back in 2015 or so on religious grounds.

Why her?

Because of her case back then.

She's one of the few people in the country that have legal standing to challenge the decision.

Her petition is the first time the court has been asked officially to overturn

the decision that enshrine the right of about 26 million Americans to get married. In the

petition, her attorney referred to the majority opinion written by Justice Anthony Kennedy

as a legal fiction and said the decision must be corrected.

David Ermold and David Moore's attorney, there's a couple she refused to issue a license to,

Not a single judge on the U.S. Court of Appeals showed any interest in Davis's rehearing petition,

and we are confident the Supreme Court will likewise agree that Davis's arguments do not merit

further attention. The only good news is that most legal scholars view her case as a long shot.

scholars are basing that opinion on the history of a Supreme Court that wasn't quite as partisan
