So today, we're going to talk about Paxton winning, 250 million, and an opportunity for Democrats. Texas saw the Trump-aligned State Attorney

General Ken Paxton win the Republican Senate primary. He defeated incumbent Senator John Cornyn,

but at what cost? Normally, that question is metaphorical, and while that may be true later, right now it's

literally about the cost in dollars.

Senate Republicans blew almost $100 million defending Cornyn and trying to preserve the Republican

incumbent advantage.

That money might as well have just been set on fire.

But there's another dollar amount being tossed around.

$250 million, a quarter of a billion dollars.

That's the estimate being floated among Republicans to protect the Texas Senate seat because Paxton is now the candidate.

That's a quarter of a billion dollars that can't be spent trying to flip vulnerable Democratic Senate seats.

I'm sure Trump was very happy with the outcome of the primary. You know who's happier? Every

Democratic senator in a swing state. I would imagine they cheered the results more than anybody,

because a lot of the money that would have been used to attack them is now going to be used to defend Texas. Now, let's pause for a second.

Texas is a Republican stronghold. I know people talk about Texas going blue every few years,

but it's normally an outlier possibility. Why are Republicans suddenly worried? If you're a

political news junkie or you simply watch the news in Texas, you already know. But for those who

aren't, let's just say that Paxton is one of the most scandal-plagued candidates just about anywhere. I respect your time
