Christy Nome has been fired from her job as Secretary of Homeland Security.

She was removed from her cabinet position after an endless string of scandals.

Trump said Nome will be

Moving to be Special Envoy for the Shield of the Americas,

our new security initiative in the Western Hemisphere.

Moving removed officials to low-profile irrelevant positions

is Trump's way of trying to avoid the negative press associated with having made yet another

failed hiring decision. It doesn't work though. In fact, it creates more questions about Trump's judgment.

Nome's latest scandal seemed to center around an alleged misuse of funds. So Trump, in his

infinite wisdom, gave her an envoy position. You know, because special envoys have a ton of

oversight on their expenses.

Senator Mark Wayne Mullen of Oklahoma is Trump's pick to fill the slot.

He's supposed to take over at the end of the month, and Trump said he'll work to get him quickly confirmed.

That's yet another pick that Trump will be questioned over.

There are probably going to be some tough questions about how Mullen plans to manage an agency

that is in the middle of a funding lapse over the administration's unwillingness to implement even the

most basic of reforms.

It's going to be tough for Mullen to convince some Senators that he's the right person for the job,

because of his own behavior in the Senate.
