Well, howdy there, internet people, it's Bell again.

So today, we're going to talk about Musk, a trillion dollars, and reality setting in.

If you've been watching the channel for a while, here's some news that will come as no surprise.

Musk has decided to walk back his budget cut of $2 trillion, just a little bit. He cut it in half.

He said, quote, if we try for $2 trillion, we've got a good shot at getting one. And if we can drop the

budget deficit from $2 trillion to $1 trillion and kind of free up the economy

to have additional growth such that the output of goods and services keeps pace with the

increase in the money supply, then there will be no inflation. So that, I think, would be an epic

outcome. Surprise, he couldn't get $2 trillion.

Now, when I said this initially, I got a lot of hate mail for it, more than for anything

else I've said. Stuff like Elon Musk is the richest man in the world. You are a redneck in a garage. This video is the

height of hubris. He cuts costs at businesses for breakfast. You think he can't cut two trillion in

waste out of almost $7 trillion. To say he not only can't cut the budget by $2 trillion, but that he won't get anywhere near that is why we say to stay home and cook.

Well, don't you feel silly?

I've got some bad news for you.

First, the government isn't a business, and second, he's not cutting a trillion either.

Once you discount mandatory spending and interest, he's really only working with 1.6 or 1.7 trillion. Around half of that

is DOD's budget. There is not a way to get a trillion without cutting DOD's budget by about 20 or 25%.

That's the minimum. Do you think that's going to fly? Probably not.

But if you think Congress will go for a cut that big to DOD, let me tell you what else has to be cut to make up the remainder.

You take a quarter of DOD's budget and then you cut everything.

Literally all other discretionary spending.
