At the time, I said we'd likely see more older Democrats step aside for younger candidates.

So this pattern was expected. I didn't expect it to be Nadler.

In an interview, Nadler said that watching Biden drop out of the 2024 race was kind of a moment of

decision for him. It led him to the conclusion that there was a, quote, necessity for generational

change in the party. He went on to say, quote, I'm not saying we should change over the entire party, but I think a certain amount of change is very helpful, especially when we face the challenge of Trump and his incipient fascism.
