Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again. So today, we're going to talk about how it

looks like Mexico's president backed Trump down on a phone call. Trump campaigned on tariffs. Just days

ago, he promised to add 25% tariffs on Mexico and Canada. Immediately, the economists and the

financial wizards of the world said it was a really bad idea and explained how it would

reignite inflation and cost the U.S. jobs. The Mexican president publicly responded and told him the same thing about the economy and jobs.

She also expressed willingness to impose tariffs of her own.

Trump, of course, acted like he knew more than everybody else and ignored the criticism.

Or so it seemed.

Then Trump suddenly announced that he and her had spoken and that everything was wonderful.

He posted, quote,

Just had a wonderful conversation with the new president of Mexico, Claudia Scheinbaum Pardo.

She has agreed to stop migration through Mexico and into the United

States, effectively closing our southern border. We also talked about what can be done to stop the

massive drug inflow into the United States and also U.S. consumption of these drugs. It was a very productive conversation.

It sure sounds like Trump is declaring a victory, and since he won, he wouldn't need to impose the

tariffs. Of course, the problem with this is that the Mexican president tells a very different story.

Quote, in our conversation with President Trump, I explained to him the comprehensive strategy

that Mexico has followed to address the migration phenomenon, respecting human rights.

Thanks to this, migrants and caravans are assisted before

they arrive at the border. We reiterate that Mexico's position is not to close borders, but to build

bridges between governments and between peoples. Has followed.

She's saying that she just explained what Mexico has already been doing.
