Well, howdy there internet people? It's Bell again. So today we're going to talk about Helene,

millions of Americans, NOAA, and the Conservative Plan for America.

Over the last week, millions of Americans have relied on information from NOAA through

the National Hurricane Center.

Commentators have used this opportunity to draw attention to the conservative

wish list item of making sure NOAA is, quote, broken up and downsized.

That quote is from the now infamous Heritage Foundation text

known as Project 2025.

Sure, Trump has said it's not his thing.

But the text was drawn up with the input of people

from Trump world to include several former

Trump administration officials.

It's also important to remember when Trump spoke at a heritage event he said the people

of heritage were quote going to lay the groundwork and detail plans for exactly what our movement will do.

The section on NOAA and Project 2025 was written by Thomas Gilman,

a former Commerce Department official under Trump.

Most people commenting on NOAA right now are pointing at the Project 2025's desire

to commercialize a lot of its operations. It says NOAA, quote,

should fully commercialize its forecasting operations.

That, of course, brings up images of paywalls for emergency information.

And sure, there are concerns about the commercialization of information that could save people's lives.

But I think it's more important to draw some attention
