So today, we're going to talk about Trump versus Heggseth and a question.

So, Secretary of Defense Hegseth dismantled a program called Women, Peace, and Security.

He celebrated it online, and his supporters dutifully celebrated the end of the program.

Some of the celebrations spilled into my inbox.

Hey, Barn Barbie, just wondering how you feel about Trump getting rid of the women's security program.

I was just wondering how you feel about it since you were DEI. No more feminist UN programs.

We're going back to the greatest generation way of doing things. No more woke DEIs. Just elite warriors.

Sorry. First, can I just say that I actually like Barn Barbie?

That's fun.

Second, I was in long before this program existed.

I know Hexeth called it a Biden initiative and got on social media to say it was, quote,

a United Nations program pushed by feminists and left-wing activists.

But the reality is that it's a pretty new program,

and it was signed into law by Trump in 2017.

It was co-sponsored in the House by Trump's Homeland Security Secretary, Christy Knoem.

And Trump's Secretary of State, Marco Rubio,

helped push it through the Senate.

Third, hundreds of thousands of women from the Greatest Generation served during World War II.

But you said greatest generation and elite.

That's fun too. Let's see if I can cook up a little bit more context for you.
