In what might be the most ridiculously bizarre statement to ever come from a Secretary of Defense about a combat scenario. Hegsetz said the

Strait of Hormuz was open. The Secretary of Defense said, quote, the only thing prohibiting

transit in the straits right now is Iran shooting at shipping. It is open for transit.

Well, Pete, we didn't think it was closed for remodeling.

We didn't think that Iran was deciding on a new color scheme for peers, and poof, ships caught fire.

Let's be clear. Saying, oh, it's open, except for a little bit of incoming,

is just classic Trump to start with. But to say it while news is breaking that Treasury Secretary

and soybean man, Scott Besant, is telling the world, quote, That was always in our planning,

and there's the chance that the U.S. Navy,

or perhaps an international coalition,

will be escorting oil tankers through.

My belief that as soon as it is militarily possible,

the U.S. Navy, and perhaps with an international coalition, will be escorting vessels

through. As soon as it's militarily possible, meaning it's currently too risky. If it's too

risky to run a naval escort, which would include air defense capabilities, I'm thinking it might be too risky to run a naval escort which would include air defense capabilities.

Hexeth went on with his wonderful explanation of how and why the strait that carries a fifth

of the world's oil is open, but also not. Quote,
