Well, howdy there internet people, it's Bell again. So today we're going to talk about

Harris, Trump, the economy, and who voters trust more. The momentum of the Harris

campaign is starting to impact surprising things and affect longstanding trends in polling.

Despite inheriting a booming economy when he entered office and leaving office with an economy

in shambles that started collapsing before the pandemic hit. Polling has suggested that

voters trusted Trump more than his Democratic Party rival.

That has shifted. Back in July, only 35% of those surveyed trusted the Democratic Party ticket headed by President Biden to handle the economy best.

In August polling, with Harris taking the lead and becoming the face of the party, the number has jumped

seven points to 42%. Trump's numbers are still coming in at 41%.

What might be more interesting is where the shift appears to be coming from.

In July, 18% of those surveyed trusted neither candidate.

In August, that dropped to 10%. That closely mirrors the shift in favor

of Harris. So those who trust the Democratic Party up seven. Those who trust Trump the same and those who trust neither down eight.

This tends to suggest that Harris isn't winning over partisan Democrats or pulling Republicans, but rather energizing those who don't have a hard party motivation, regardless of registration.

In short, it looks like those people leaning toward Harris are the type of voter who

actually decides elections when they show up.

Now this is just one set of polling, and it's within the margin of error.

There would need to be more similar results to truly draw the conclusion

that Harris is pulling away from Trump on the topic of the economy, the way she appears to be pulling away from him

on pretty much everything else.

But the development, it's incredibly interesting. Many independents or those who don't really follow politics vote based on the economy.

It's also one of the few things that Trump has been able to maintain an image of success about among those who don't follow the news.
