So today, we're going to talk about EVs and how Americans are manipulated

by memes and a drive to be seen as contrarian free thinkers.

We've all seen the hot takes that try to take a widely accepted piece of information

and turn it on its head.

We've all seen the, well actually, posts on social media.

And we've all seen how these posts get massive amounts of engagement,

regardless of whether or not there is any real basis for the take.

There's nothing inherently wrong with challenging widely accepted beliefs or presenting

things in a new way and new framing.

I would say that it's a critical part of the advancement of humanity.

However, many Americans seem less and less capable of knowing the difference between a belief and a fact.

As an example, a recent survey from ipsoe showed that the share of people who bought new cars in the last 10 years

who believe electric vehicles are better for the environment has fallen by 5% since 2022.

It fell from 63% to 58%.

First, given that this topic has reams of in-depth coverage,

the fact that only a little more than half know that EVs are

better than gas-powered vehicles is not a good sign when it comes to overall information

consumption in this country.

If you don't know, electric vehicles are absolutely a net wind for the environment.

Yes, even when you take into account mining or battery usage or how it's charged or anything else.

It's been examined over and over again.
