Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's bell again.

So today, we're going to talk about Congress trying to stop Trump on Iran.

A growing number of Republicans, Democrats, and independents in Congress are starting to find a single thing they can agree on.

Trump shouldn't be able to unilaterally

enter the fray in the Middle East. On Monday, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont introduced the

No War with Iran Act. The bill already has more than half a dozen co-sponsors. The text is online if you want to read it,

and unlike a lot of legislation, it's pretty straightforward. But the meat of it is, quote,

no federal funds may be obligated or expended for any use of military force in or against Iran. There are exceptions, such as Congress later

approving certain actions or defense from imminent attack. Sanders said, quote, our founding fathers

entrusted the power of war and peace exclusively to the people's elected representatives in Congress.

And it is imperative that we make clear that the president has no authority to embark on

another costly war without explicit authorization by Congress. Over in the House, you have right-wing Republicans lining up with the likes of AOC to attempt

to stop Trump as well.

Republican Thomas Massey posted to social media, quote, this is not our war, but if it were,

Congress must decide such matters according to our Constitution.

I'm introducing a bipartisan war powers resolution tomorrow to prohibit our involvement.

I invite all members of Congress to co-sponsor this resolution.

It's getting advanced support from all corners of the House, to the point that there's

a high probability of having the votes.

But of course, nothing is straightforward.

Unless the Republican Speaker and the Republican Senate Majority Leader go along with it,

it takes time to force a vote.
