Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again.

So today, we're going to talk about Congress moving against Heggseth in the NDAA.

In a unique wrinkle designed to push the administration into releasing footage of their operations down south. Congress has embedded

an interesting little tidbit into the National Defense Authorization Act. A bit quietly dropped

into the military appropriations bill would remove part of Defense Secretary Pete Hux's travel budget unless he decides to release

unedited video of the strikes that have been conducted. The video evidence must be provided

to the House and the Senate Armed Services Committees. The push to get wider release is bipartisan.

Senate Armed Services Chair Roger Wicker of Mississippi, who is a Republican, wants rank and file members of Congress to see the

footage for themselves. Meanwhile, Democratic Representative Adam Smith of Washington has said, quote,

If they release the video, then everything that the Republicans are saying will clearly be portrayed to be completely false.

Smith actually wants more than the video.

He's clearly indicated he wants all the records.

For those without military experience, that's a lot.

The amount of paperwork on something like this is way more than you'd expect.

Smith then wants public hearings with Hegeseth, explaining exactly what

happened at each point. From the little bits that we've heard about, the Secretary of Defense

might have a bit of a timeline issue when it comes to squaring his public statements with the chain of events.

From what we've heard, the gap between the strikes was exceedingly long,

lasting somewhere between 45 and 48 minutes.

That is a ridiculously long time in a combat scenario.

There was discussion that took place during that period, and Congress is going to want to know what it was.

For comparison, the raid to get bin Laden took less time, including the helicopter descent, the operation, securing everything and extraction.
