Well, howdy there internet people, it's Bell again. So today we're going to talk about the point of Republicans for Harris.

After the recent video, we got a bunch of questions asking what the point really was and why it would

matter if a bunch of Republicans endorsed Harris. I think it's a cool question

because it lets us talk about one of the deeper trends and issues in American politics.

It's not a major policy debate dividing the country, it's something more mundane.

It's one of those things we may not even recognize as a problem.

We might even think it's a good thing.

Tradition.

That peer pressure from dead people that we talk about so often on the channel.

For a lot of people, being a Republican isn't just a party affiliation, it's part of their identity. Crossing party lines is a difficult

task. It's a big step. But at the same time, other parts of their identity, like maybe a desire to support the Constitution,

make it difficult for them to vote for Trump.

There's a conflict and it may result in decision paralysis.

Republicans for Harris is really about building a structure where they see long time,

well-known Republicans cross party lines. When respected Republicans cross it

makes it easier for those with doubt about Trump to do the same thing.

Many Republicans realize that he's led their party further and further from the party that at one point in time

reflected their beliefs, even if it was only in rhetoric.

It's like one of those 80s movies where the social outcasts does something redeeming or heroic

and nobody in the crowd knows how to respond

and then the crowd slowly starts to clap.

Somebody had to start that clapping.
