Well, howdy there internet people, it's Bell again.

So today we're going to talk about Trump, Man of the Year,

and one of the Trump of the year claim and asking for a fact check. So this is what we found out. For

years Trump has made the claim that he was honored as man of the year in

Michigan. Numerous fact checks by other outlets have said that isn't true.

It isn't something we've ever really looked into here on the channel

because frankly it's an old claim that doesn't really matter

it's very much a non-issue but recently Trump was at an event in Detroit know, the one where he couldn't stop talking about how horrible Detroit was.

And he bizarrely started talking about how he told his people to find evidence that he was awarded man of the year.

And he said they found it and he held up a printed out copy of the article from the Oakland Press. The article is titled

Oakland County GOP to honor Donald Trump. Okay, cool. So he was honored as man of the year by a county level GOP organization.

Even though the details didn't match the story he told, things get blurry with years. So close enough. Fair enough.

Then people started pointing out an oddity.

See, the article is from 2023, and it said Trump was awarded the Man of the Year Award in 2013.

Okay, so it wasn't original reporting from the time, but whatever, again, a total non-issue about something

a decade ago. It is at this point in time in the timeline that the messages asking for a fact check started

coming in. So we started looking into it and things got Trumpy real quick.

It says quote, a story published in May of 2023 online and print editions of the Oakland Press reported that

former President Donald Trump was honored with a Man of the Year award at the

2013 County GOP Lincoln Day Dinner.
