So today, we're going to talk about Trump trying to pay off allies for damage

with Iranian assets. This is one of those news items that is both interesting by itself,

and also because of what it tells us about other major news stories and the connections that aren't

being drawn yet in the media. U.S. Treasury Secretary and soybean man Scott Bessent is reportedly

considering a plan to use frozen or captured Iranian assets to reimburse U.S. allies in the Gulf that have sustained damage

due to Trump's recent conflict with Iran. Bessent will reportedly have a team that will

request estimates for the costs of repairing damage caused by Iran. The list of countries that

might be reimbursed is lengthy.

So, that's pretty much all the news on this at time of recording.

But that's not where this ends.

See, Iran has demanded the return of assets and hundreds of billions in reparations,

which Trump is trying to recast as an investment fund. So far, they've been pretty adamant about this as a condition of any peace deal.
