Well, howdy there internet people, let's bow again.

So today, we are going to talk about Alaska and oil, leases, and Biden.

And something I'm not sure a whole lot of people saw coming and it's something that

it's probably going to make a whole lot of people happy. Okay, so the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

The Biden administration is moving to protect a large part of it from drilling.

They are also canceling a bunch of Trump-era leases.

The area in question that will be protected is going to be along the north slope.

How big of an area?

The protected area encompasses 10 million acres in change.

The limited area beyond that 10 million is about 2.6 million. Now recently I had somebody from Europe, Belgium in

particular, send me a message and say hey when you're giving stuff in acres and talking about things like that,

can you give Europeans a point of reference?

Okay, so you are from Belgium, we will take Belgium as the example. So take your country and take a

third of it. A third of Belgium, add it back to a full Belgium, that's the 10 million acres.

And then take another third to get a gauge of the size of the area that drilling will be limited but not completely

halted outside of that. Total it's about 13 million acres all added up which if I'm not mistaken

Belgium is about seven and a half.

So that's the size.

This is a very sizable portion of land.

It's a big chunk of land that's going to be protected.

On top of that, there appears to be something in it that will allow locals to kind of nominate other areas to be protected as well. Now normally when
