Well, howdy there internet people, it's both young.

So today we are going to talk about Alabama and the Supreme Court

and defiance and short-sightedness, and why it's probably really happening.

Okay, so if you don't know any of the background story to this.

We'll start there.

Alabama had a map for its districts. The map had one majority black district out of seven. Black people in Alabama make up like 27% of the population.

And this was ruled by the Supreme Court to be in violation.

They need new maps.

Supreme Court basically said that they need two majority black districts.

The decision itself was kind of a surprise, conservative Supreme Court, but really what

happened was Alabama's districting was so bad that even Kavanaugh was like, no, that can't stand.

So the Supreme Court told them they needed new maps.

Alabama has decided that their move is going to be to

take the district that already has a majority and lower the majority percentage in it and then take another district and raise it up a little bit

but it's still not a majority.

They actually made it worse. They made the issue worse.

Denying the likelihood of black voters getting the representation they want.

They're openly defying the Supreme Court.

They're basically saying they made their decision, let them enforce it.

It should be noted that when the legitimacy of this Supreme Court was truly questioned and totally ignored.

It was Republicans in Alabama that did it.

It is an incredibly dangerous tone to set.
