So today, we're going to talk about a key group turning on Trump.

But the sign you're not seeing isn't the reason.

We've gotten a few questions about why farmers are finally turning on Trump, and it's a pretty interesting

tidbit that can teach us a little bit about leading and lagging indicators.

Here's one of the questions. Quote, Bell, farmers are really starting to turn on Trump.

I live in farm country, and the Trump signs are

slowly disappearing from the farms. Is there anything in particular that's causing this? So,

are farmers turning on Trump? Some are definitely. To what degree we don't know yet, but it's definitely happening. And more

will probably turn on him soon. How do we know more will? Because there's a drought,

and fuel and fertilizer prices are up. Labor prices are up. Those are leading indicators of

trouble in agriculture.

As an aside, there's some inorganic comments showing up pretty often from people claiming to be farmers.

They're saying everything is fine, because gas prices will go down.

Farmers tend to save fuel.

Because most don't use gas, they use diesel.

But anyway, those are leading indicators, things that occur before an event that can be used to forecast a bit. The current state of things isn't great to begin with. Farm bankruptcies surged nearly 46% in 2025,

according to the American Farm Bureau Federation. Farm bankruptcies in Iowa more than doubled last year. Major news outlets in the state are referencing the farm crisis of the 1980s.

That's when farmers were hit so hard it brought about things like farm aid. But it's not just Iowa.

Minnesota led the nation and farm bankruptcies in the first quarter of this year. There were more in the first three months of

26 than all of 2024. The USDA doesn't see things getting better anytime soon. This month's
