Well, outy there I don't know people, let's bea again. So today we're going to talk about an incredibly

interesting poll that may change some dynamics up on Capitol Hill. Recently the Republican Party has decided to go to an old standby when they want to

generate a little bit of controversy and try to demonstrate that they are doing their part and really

sticking by conservative values, they tend to go after the debt ceiling.

And this is something that has typically worked for them

in the past.

However, new polling suggests things might be different this time around.

Back in 2011, only 24% of people supported raising the debt ceiling.

36% of Democrats, 16% of Republicans, and 22% of independents.

24% of voters. That's low. That's incredibly low. Because of the lack of support for raising

the debt ceiling, the Republican Party, well they

always feel pretty safe about turning that into a campaign issue and sticking to their guns on that.

New polling from this month, 52% of Americans support raising the debt ceiling.

79% of Democrats, 26% of Republicans, and 47% of

independence. The Republican Party cannot afford to upset 47% of independence.

They are having trouble electorally as it is. That is not a sound strategy. They may suddenly become a little

bit more interested in working out a deal and

raising the debt ceiling without causing a massive crisis in the process

because what these numbers suggest is that if they

cause a crisis or cause the country's credit to be downgraded or anything like that

that they're going to be the ones held responsible with the polls.

It's also worth noting that contrary to the way things have normally gone, 46% of Americans
