Well, howdy there, Internet people, it's Bell again. So today, we're going to talk about

0:07.4

three big takeaways from Bessent. U.S. Treasury Secretary Bessent gave an interview,

0:14.1

and he said three things that have parts that are worth kind of going over. Sometimes it's

0:20.2

confirmation of what we already knew,

0:22.6

and sometimes it's a heads up on the new rhetoric coming out of the White House.

0:27.6

Okay, so first, the giant no surprise one.

0:31.6

Walmart will raise prices.

0:33.6

I mean, we already knew that, but it's weird to hear someone in the administration say it, right?

1:27.4

whereas a leading indicator helps tell the

1:29.6

future. The problem for Bessent is that as we talked about, Moody's put out an explanation

1:36.1

of their decision. Quote, we do not believe that material multi-year reductions in mandatory

1:43.1

spending and deficits will result from current

1:46.3

fiscal proposals under consideration. That's not lagging. That's a multi-year look into the future,

1:53.4

and is specifically talking about the one big beautiful bill. So, you'll hear Republicans trying to

2:00.0

downplay it and call it a lagging indicator.
