Hello, listeners. Welcome back to Luke's English podcast. In this episode, I'm going to take a C1 English grammar test.

It's a multiple choice grammar test and the typical kind of multiple choice grammar test that you might find if you just went on Google and searched for C1 grammar test or C1 English test, a typical

multiple choice grammar test. For C1 level, C1 means an advanced level, okay? What I'll do is I'll go

through each question, I'll read out the question, give you the options, let you consider what

you think is the right answer,

then I'll give my answer and explain why I think it's the correct answer, and then I can also

give you some mini grammar lessons along the way, okay? So my reasons for doing this are twofold.

There are two of them. First of all, I just want to

teach and discuss grammar on this podcast. Now, I don't think that grammar is the be all and end all

when it comes to learning English, right? I mean, that's not to say that it's not important. Of course,

having a good base of grammatical knowledge

and being able to control your grammar

and use English accurately is obviously very important.

But I don't think it's the be-all and end-all,

but I do think it's important.

And also, I don't really do grammar on this podcast that often.

For a couple of reasons, the first reason is, as I said, it's not necessarily the most important thing.

And a lot of people studied grammar for years at school and didn't necessarily get very far with that approach.

And so I want to offer something different, which is a more of a kind of communicative

sort of approach to doing this where you are able to just listen to English being used and focus
