I'm Kevin Allison, and every Thursday we release these special episodes where we look

back at content from our earlier years.

Sometimes single stories, sometimes whole episodes, keep in mind that years ago people might

have awarded things differently than they would today.

As always, the title of the whole series, Risk, is itself a content warning.

The theme of the night is passion, my first story telling shows so bear with all the shit

you about to hear.

I've had passion on my life.

I've always had passion following my dreams.

I never wanted to be told what to do and always wanted to do what I want.

In the black community, you don't do that often.

It drove me a lot.

I got that from my parents.

From the south, Mississippi, they grew up there with little to nothing, studied hard, got

degrees, moved us up to the suburbs so we were able to have better opportunities.

We didn't have a lot of talking, a lot of dialogue growing up.

My mom would always say, we are not friends, I'm your mama.
