Let me tell you something, Pac Nation, Ed Policy, our man, the president and CEO of the Green Bay Packers

sat down and wrote his monthly column over at Packers.com and he dropped the line in

there that has me spinning around this living room like a man who just found a $20 bill

in a coat he has not worn since March. He said, and I am reading this directly, there is a true

alternate uniform in the works.

Not a rumor, not a leak from some guy on social media who talks to a guy who talks to a guy.

The man who runs this organization in writing confirming that the NFC North is next up in the NFL's Rivalries Uniform Program.

And I will tell you right now, Pac Nation, this is either going to be one of the greatest things to happen to this franchise's visual identity in 30 years, or it is going to start a war

in Wisconsin that makes the sausage versus cheese debate look like a handshake at a church picnic.

I am not exaggerating.

You know what this kind of announcement reminds me of?

You know those old hardware stores, the ones that have been in the town for 60, 70 years?

Same wooden floors. Same smell when you walk through the door.

Same guy behind the counter who already knows what you need before you open your mouth.

And then one day the next generation takes over.

And they repaint the whole interior.

New shelving, new logo on the window. Half the customers

walk in and go, oh, this is great, clean and fresh. I love it. And the other half walk straight back

out the door and drives 40 minutes to the next county to find the store that still smells like oil and sawdust.

That is what a uniform announcement does to a fan base.

You are never going to win everybody.

The old heads are going to have words no matter what you put on that field.
