The scripture for today comes from Romans 12, verses 9 through 10.

Let love be genuine.

Abhor what is evil.

Hold fast to what is good.

Love one another with brotherly affection.

Outdo one another in showing honor.

Paul begins his description of what it looks like to be a true disciple of Christ in Romans 12 with a foundational phrase for this passage,

Let love be genuine.

Genuine love is one of the most powerful forces in all of creation.

Genuine love drove Jesus through his life, death, and resurrection.

Genuine love started the advance of the gospel,

leading to the salvation of billions.

The world tirelessly searches for genuine love.

And it is genuine love that is meant to set you and me apart as disciples of Jesus.
