I love it. But did we love the movie? Well, we'll get into that. First of all, welcome back to Magical Rewind,

But this week we are recapping the 2012 Romantic Hip Hop Musical.

Let It Shine.

The decom debuted on June 15, 2012.

And believe it or not, it is a retelling of 1897's Cyrano de Bergerac, a classic play

by Edmund Rostond.

While it is nowhere near the only modern piece of media that has pulled inspiration from

this specific source material, we've got 1987's Steve Martin comedy, Roxanne, great movie.

1996 is rom-com, The Truth About Cats and Dogs, and Netflix's Sierra Burgess is a loser.

Those are just three examples of other movies with the exact same cribbed premise,

while TV shows like The Brady Bunch, Cheers, Frazier,

and even a little show called Boy Meets World have stolen this plot.
