Solomon closes the book of Ecclesiastes with these words. Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter.

Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man.

Really what leaders are are those who are following the Lord in the spiritual realm,

following the Lord and leading others to do the same.

And even in the secular realm, a leader is someone who is to be following

principle, following law, following in a certain area so that they can give a good example,

a pattern for others to follow. In other words, it's not about being just in charge. It's not about being the boss.

It's not just about who you're over. It's about what principles you operate under.

And scripture really, I think, helps clarify so much of this. We come today to Ecclesiastes

chapter 10 to find scattered throughout the chapter a number of Solomon's

lessons in leadership. Now, he was a king, and as a general rule, the people I'm talking to,

we don't live in a society with kings, but the principles of leadership continue.
