Summary

We can all learn from hard knocks, but it's a lot less painful to learn by example. First Corinthians 10:6 and 11 say that the experiences of those in the Bible were recorded for our examples. Elijah's story is full of great examples, both good and bad.

on the subject of Elijah and I tell you this has been a rich series these are

truths that God has used in my life in just a supernatural way and I've said this

many times during this series but you don't have to learn everything on your own.

We can benefit by what's gone before and that's exactly what the scripture says over in

1st Corinthians chapter 10 that all of these things that were written in the Old

Testament were written for our examples so that we through them might learn what to do

and what not to do. Let me just jump into this. The last thing that we talked about was that

after Elijah had done all these great miracles called fire down out of heaven,

seen the entire nation repent and turn to God after he had ended the drought, after he had outrun

a chariot over 20 miles with giving the chariot a head start, and with all of these miracles

seeing a person raised from the dead the food

multiplied all of these great miracles in the 19th chapter of first kings

Elijah had a meltdown.

I mean, he was up at a height that maybe nobody else had ever been to.

Of course, Moses was mightily used of God,

but Moses never saw a person raised from the dead.

Elijah was the very first person ever used by God to see a person raised from the dead.

He had done things that nobody else had done, and he basically got swelled up with pride with his own
